WEST IRON COUNTY SCHOOLS

SAFETY ADVISORY

Dear Wykon Parents & Staff,

In our ongoing efforts to make you aware of matters affecting our school, we want to let you know about a situation that briefly affected school today.

Our Middle/High School was placed in a non-emergency Hold status to conduct another one of our routine building K9 searches. In order to keep the hallways clear, all students and staff remained in their classrooms.

The current Hold should last about 30 minutes and then school operations will return to normal.

What is a Hold?

During a Hold, all students remain in their current classrooms and do not travel to other parts of the building.  Students will experience business as usual in the classroom, although they may remain there after a bell rings.

Reminders:  Parent Guide to Safety alerts

  • Read about the difference between “Secure” and “Lockdown” and parent tips for what you should do in a school emergency.

  • Update your contact information to ensure you receive important school messages.
