Dear Wykon Families,

We are writing to update you on a cybersecurity breach that has affected PowerSchool, the company that provides our student information system. PowerSchool recently discovered unauthorized access to its systems and is working to address the situation.

According to the company, PowerSchool has implemented its cybersecurity protocols and assembled a team of experts, including members of senior leadership and external cybersecurity specialists.  The company has also reported the incident to law enforcement and is actively investigating to understand and resolve the issue.  This breach has impacted districts across the State of Michigan and this is not just an attack on our district. It is worth noting that this breach is on PowerSchool’s end and has not affected any of our other systems in the district.

So far, PowerSchool has not disclosed specific details about the extent of the breach or the data involved. We are closely monitoring the situation and will share updates with you as we learn more. PowerSchool has said they will keep us informed with any updates.
